Sam Guthrie, Laura McCluskey, Zoë Rankin and Jennifer Trevelyan‘s works have been longlisted for the UK Crime Writers’ Association’s (CWA) 2026 Dagger Awards.

The State Library of NSW has released new research that highlights the social value and community benefits of libraries. Key findings are:
- People who visit libraries have higher self-reported health and wellbeing, and the more frequently they visit, the better they feel.
- 64% of respondents believe that public libraries are places of safety and belonging.
- 67% of frequent State Library users agreed that the library helps with mental wellbeing.

Libraries generate a total of $1.13 billion in community value.

Australian cartoonist Lee Lai has been shortlisted for the Carol Shields Prize (Canada and US) for their graphic novel Cannon.

Evelyn Araluen has announced that she will step away from publishing with University of Queensland Press after it was reported that the publisher has scrapped the book Bila, a River Cycle by author Jazz Money and illustrator Matt Chun. This decision has come after The Australian claims that the illustrator holds or expressed anti-Jewish views.

The rights to turn Pissants by Brandon Jack into a TV series have been secured by Jesse Laurie and Lewis Mullholland.
