Hello everyone 😄

  • MammaMia Australia has found themselves in hot water with the reading, writing and author community in Australia with one of their recent articles where they talked down on romance books. The article calls romance books “low-brow” and “basic”.
  • In other news, and a win for romance as a genre, Heated Rivalry, a LGBT+ hockey romance, written by Rachel Reid, has just been turned into a TV series
  • Adelaide Writers Festival is also under fire after they axed author Randa Abdel-Fattah for ‘cultural sensitivity’. The festival is now seeing multiple authors withdrawing from the festival in solidarity including Jane Caro, and Margot McGovern. Robbie Arnott has also said he will be withdrawing if Randa is not reinstated. You can read more about his here.
