Green Hill Package

Who is the Green Hill Package for?

The Green Hill Package is for authors who want to create the strongest, most marketable version of their book. Because we only take a limited number of Green Hill Package authors per year, we have a very hands-on process. This means we’ll guide you on design and editing so your book has the best chance in the publishing market.

Because this package is marketing-focused, we do need our Green Hill Package authors to trust our professional expertise. If our guidance and recommendations aren’t followed, some services may not apply. This is simply because we’re committed to putting forward books that meet the highest standard and align with our brand.

What is included in the Green Hill Package?

Included in this package are the following services:

Project Management and Communication

Dedicated Project Contact: Your project contact will be your main point of communication throughout your project. They are across the entire production of your book, will answer any questions you have and guide you in the right direction. They will also keep you up to date on the status of your project.

Milestone Phone Calls: Throughout the project and at certain milestones, you will be asked to book in for scheduled calls and/or Teams Meetings with your project contact. If phone calls are difficult for you, you can opt out and receive your updates via email.

Editing

Beta Reading: Included in the Green Hill Package will schedule your manuscript to be beta read by one of our trusted editors. A beta read involves an editor who specialises in reading your full manuscript (or up to 70,000 words) and providing feedback on the structure, pacing, characters etc. A report will also be given at this time. This serves as a crucial step as the editor will provide instructions for further developing your manuscript.

Editing Assessment: Green Hill Publishing offers our authors an editing assessment after they have completed reviewing their beta reading and have taken into account what the beta reader recommended. This includes an editor spending up to an hour on editing your manuscript to identify the level of editing needed and to provide a budget and timeline.

Note: Full editing is not included in our packages. Each manuscript is unique and requires a different level of editorial work. If full editing were included in a publishing package you could be overpaying for minimal editing or restricting the editor to an unrealistic budget and timeframe which may not be sufficient for your book.

Book Design

Market Research into Comparable Titles: Green Hill’s marketing expert will assess your book and present comparable title that fit with your themes, content, and target audience. This will help guide the Book Designer (and you) in the right direction in your book design concept.

Book Cover Strategy for Optimal Online Presence: Your Book Designer will direct the look of your book cover to maximise its market presence.

Design Consultancy with Book Designer: Within the Green Hill Package, you will be asked to have a meeting with your designer to discuss your vision for the book at the beginning of the design phase. Your Book Designer will be equipped with the market research. They will ask you questions about your vision and will likely advise alternatives to make sure your book has the best chance of succeeding within the book market. This can be done via call or a Teams Meeting.

Premium Cover Design: All our book covers are created by our in-house designers who have the marketability of the book in mind. In the Green Hill Package, your Book Designer works to the design consultancy notes taken throughout your discussion. They may suggest alternative options they believe will work for your book. These ideas will be provided to you via the Book Concept Presentation document.

3D Render of Your Chosen Cover Design: After the Final Cover phase, you will be given a digital rendering of what your book cover will look like as a physical product.

Premium Interior Design: Just like book covers, the interior design and typesetting of your book is handled by our in-house designers who have the marketability of the book in mind. In the Green Hill Package, your designer works to the information they have noted from the Design Consultancy. They may suggest alternative options they believe work for your book as well.

20 Image Insertions: Each package has a maximum of 20 image insertions. If you require more, you can let your project manager or sales consultant know and they will let you know your options.

Typesetting Alterations: We understand that your book is intended for distribution and that errors aren’t always easily spotted. Therefore, we allow up to 60 minor text alterations. These should be sent in “one go” to avoid confusion or missing alterations.

Final Print Files: Once the design process has been completed and your files are ready for print, you will be given the print-ready files of your book.

eBook Conversion: A reflowable ePub conversion is included in the Green Hill Package for manuscripts up to 70,000 words (typeset documents of up to 250 pages). This is a professionally converted file and can be used to distribute via any eBook distributor, although Green Hill recommends exclusivity with Amazon KDP.

Proofing

Electronic Proofs for Cover and Interior: The initial proofing stage is done digitally. You will be provided with a PDF to proof your cover and interior artwork before the printing of your hardcover author proof goes ahead.

Paperback Author Proof Copy: As books created within the Green Hill Package are intended for distribution, you will be set-up for a paperback book to help minimise printing costs. Therefore, at the physical proof stage, you will be given a paperback proof.

Hardcover Author Proof Copy: Books created within the Green Hill Package can have multiple formats, so one version of your book will be set-up as a hardcover book. Therefore, at the physical proof stage, you will receive a hardcover proof for this version.

Note: Hardcover books are not economic unless printed in bulk and/or offshore. This means that although the format is set up, the hardcover often does not become part of the Marketing Strategy due to high print and retail costs.

Marketing

Marketing Strategy: Green Hill will prepare a PDF outlining the Marketing Strategy in place for the book. This will include information on distribution, author platforms and give further suggestions to the author.

Metadata Optimisation: Ensuring metadata is complete, engaging and consistent across ThorpeBowker, Ingram Group, Nielsen BookData, TitlePage, and Amazon KDP.

Author Website: A Professional Author Website Package is included in your Green Hill Package. This includes the design, build, and initial hosting of your author website. Green Hill will drive the design decisions of your author website based on your book design and your needs for the website (series compatible, etc).

Author Webpage: At the close of your project, your book will be released on our website https://australianauthorsstore.com/. This is not an author website but allows customers to directly purchase books from the authors or find a link an online retailer that stocks it.

Marketing Assets: Green Hill will prepare easy-to-use graphics to assist you in your own marketing efforts.

KDP Strategy and Optimisation: Green Hill will research the keywords and or/phrases that are best aligned with your book, how often they’re searched and how many competitors there are if used, and the categories that which fit your audience and genre best. A KDP Select strategy or promotion may also be recommended.

Library Distribution Submission: Green Hill will approach Australian Library Service (ALS) to have your book circulated within the library system within Australia. ALS promotes their new titles within listings that are sent to libraries all around Australia. This listing is curated to fit a client profile, ensuring your book is presented to the right people looking for a book like yours.

Goodreads Listing: Green Hill will request a page be made for your book on Goodreads, a reviewer platform. Many readers will search Goodreads to check the reviews of a book before deciding whether they’d like to purchase or read a book. Because of the platform’s popularity and credibility with readers, having a functioning Goodreads presence is useful for marketing.

TitlePage Listing: TitlePage is a user-friendly pricing and availability platform that booksellers and suppliers throughout Australia. This service makes all titles available in Australia visible for ease of search and ordering. To maintain the value of this service, Green Hill’s TitlePage list is only open to our Green Hill Package titles. Green Hill reserves the right to exclude this service from any project (including Green Hill Package titles) if advice has not been taken and we feel that the book could devalue the Green Hill imprint.

Distribution

Print-on-Demand Set-up: Your files will be designed to the specifications for Print-on-Demand (POD). This could be KDP and/or IngramSpark. These POD Printers have connections with a Global Distribution Network to allow your access to worldwide online book distribution.

Online Retailing Paperback Format Distribution: We help assist with arranging the metadata for the online distribution of the paperback book on IngramSpark and Amazon KDP.

Online Retailing Hardcover Format Distribution: We will help you set your hardcover format book up on IngramSpark only for distribution. Please note, we may not advise distribution for hardcover in all cases as it may not be economical enough for yourself or the reader.

Please refer to Proofing: Hardcover Author Proof Copy.

Online Retailing eBook Format Distribution: We help assist with arranging the metadata for the online distribution of the eBook.

Legals and Finance

100% Copyright: As the content creator, you will maintain 100% of the copyright of your manuscript throughout the whole process. At the end of the project, Green Hill assigns the copyright to your book design over to you as well.

100% Royalties: Green Hill is a fee-for-service provide, so we don’t take royalties from our authors’ sales.

Your Own Account with Print-on-Demand and Online Sales Platform: We will provide you with instructions on how to set up your own account with the POD printer of your choice so you can manage your account independently.

ISBN Registration: All books intended for retail need an ISBN. Green Hill assigns and manages our authors’ ISBNs throughout the production process.

Legal Deposit: As part of the Green Hill Package, we will complete the Legal Deposit with the National Library of Australia for you. This is a legal requirement for publishers.

Printing

Black and White or Full Colour Interior: Depending on your publishing needs, you can opt for either black and white or full colour interiors for your book.

Australian and International Print-on-Demand Set-up: Included in the Green Hill Package, we will set your book up to a POD template for the printer of your choice. If you are wanting to print with a trade printer, we can assist with this also, but you will need to talk with your Project Manager about this.

“Book Launch” Print Run (Administration, Quality Control, Delivery): Green Hill will assist in quoting a short print run for you. This is a short print run organised for the purposes of selling books at a book launch.

Print Brokering for Specialised Print: Printing additional runs that are higher in volume (over 200 copies) or in quality (include print finishes, etc.).

Other packages

Green Hill offers four different tiers of publishing that are built to suit the varying needs of our many authors:

Professional Package

The Professional Package is our most popular package. It’s the first tier package for books intended for distribution and has a host of inclusions to help your book do well in the market on top of your own marketing efforts.

Keepsake Package

Authors who are considering the Keepsake Package aren’t selling their book. Instead, they are only after one or two copies of their book for either their own purposes or to give to friends and family.

If you would like to compare the inclusions for each package, visit our Compare the Packages page.
